Who am I?

Maverick

HI, I am Maverick, I AM 15 YEARS OLD AND A SOPHMORE IN HIGH SCHOOL. I HAVE HELPED MY DAD OFF AND ON IN HIS CABINET SHOP FOR 5 YEARS AND HE IS TEACHING WOODWORKING SKILLS TO ME. I LIKE LISTENING TO MUSIC WHILE Working. I JUST JOINED THEATRE AND POWER LIFTING IN SCHOOL. AS SOMEONE WITH AUTISM, I HAVE FOUND IT CHALLENGING TO STAY ENGAGED IN A HOBBY.I ENJOY WORKING ON CUTTING BOARDS AND MAKING THEM TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY, AS WELL AS ADDING MINOR DETAILS THAT ADD SO MUCH TO THE BOARDS APPEARANCE.

How i make these

While the process is mostly the same, each hand made product may take different steps to produce. First I pick my lumber choices for a board. Since most of this is taken from my Dad's shop, I use the wood he has. Sometimes I will go get exotic wood from different places.  Once I have wood, I cut pieces into 1" -2" depending on style.  From there they are glued up using Waterproof Titebond 3 and left in clamps for 24 hours. Once glue dries, I use my dads planer or sander to flatten to thickness.  Then using table saw I size each board to size.  From there the sanding process begins.  I start 80 grit and go to 400. If a routed edge or corner is needed, Ill put it on then. Then I finish sanding to 800. From there it is put in a food safe mineral soak for 12-18 hours minimum, then left to air dry on rack in A/c until sold.

How to care for your product

While every product is different, caring for them is all the same.  We recommend hand washing after every use. Dish soap and warm water works best. Wipe dry with clean towel, and oil after drying. We recommend Boos brand cutting board oil, but any butcher block oil will work. If oiled often the board will look great for many, many years.                  These products are not dishwasher safe.
